Character’s Perspective!

Today, we are visited by Donna Gallagher’s Riley Walters, the hero from Cassie’s Choice book 7, in her League of Love series. I think you’re going to love this. RIley was so much fun. Thank you for visiting!

Hi I’m Riley Walters nice to meet you Tori. Thanks for the invite to talk a bit about my story in Cassie’s Choice, League of Love book 7. This is my first interview so go easy on me, *wink*

What is one thing Donna got right?

I think Donna was spot on about everything. She has known me since I was eleven, so I guess she had a real insight into what I was feeling and how the events of my childhood influenced my decisions.

What first attracted you to Cassie?

Wow, that’s a tough one. We first met at a backyard BBQ at JT and Mandy Thomson’s place. I hadn’t seen my mate Pippa for ages she’d been away at university getting her degree. Cassie is a friend of Pips and was at the party with her. I think just about everything about Cassie attracted me, she is gorgeous with blonde hair and those beautiful baby blue eyes not to mention how hot and sexy her body is from all the fitness training she does – did you know she teaches sport in high school? I guess the way she flirted with me didn’t hurt either, all those tough footy players milling about and Cassie was more interested in spending time with me. Makes a bloke feel pretty good about himself, getting attention from the sexiest woman in the room.

At what moment did you know you were in love?

I don’t think it took very long to be honest, Cassie was everything I wanted in a woman but I was too scared to admit it to her. There was that age thing going on and my fear that she might not feel the same way.

What surprises you most about Cassie?

I guess the fact she forgave me, although surprise would not be the right word to use for that, I think relieved and bloody thankful fits better.

Who would you want to play you in a movie-retelling of your story? Who would play Cassie?

Any good looking ranga actor would be fine, although I reckon Cassie would want me to say one of those Hemsworth brothers, what are their names? Chris and Liam I think. You’d have to make him a ginger first, of course.

Scarlett Johannson or Amanda Seyfried could definitely do the role of Cassie justice, in my opinion.Scarlett Johansson

Good choices! If you could have changed one of your actions – just one – what would it be, and why?

I really should have told Cassie how much I loved her. It would have saved us both two years of heartache and we wouldn’t have even considered the ménage with Mike – I won’t ever forget how much pain, I caused my girl.

Ahh, that’s so sweet. What do you hope readers take away from this retelling of your story?

I really hope readers understand how important it is to communicate truthfully, with your partner. Let each other know what’s going on, what you like, what makes you feel uncomfortable. How you feel. If I had done that, Cassie and I wouldn’t have needed a book. Life would have been a whole lot easier from the start. And don’t enter into anything sexually that you’re not one hundred percent sure about. Again communication is the key.

What is your favorite chapter of your story?

I like the part where Cassie forgives me and we get hot and heavy in her kitchen and then again in her lounge room. But I guess that’s not really a surprise, I am a bloke.

Here’s an excerpt from that chapter,

“What I’d really like is if we could try again.” Saying the words was frightening. Riley put his heart on his sleeve, mainly given the courage by Cassie’s own words and actions. With her fingers still wrapped around his own and the feel of her soft skin under his thumb, he had divulged his darkest time and she had understood. He was still smarting that Cassie had asked the question about him hurting her but really he understood why, after his confession. It was the second question, when it finally sank into his thick skull, which had rocked him more, though. He had answered honestly. Being with Cassie again was what he wanted. He sent a quick prayer to whatever God was listening that she would like his answer—or better yet, be on board with it.

“I’d like that too.”

Okay, Walters, did she just say what I think she said? He was pretty certain he’d heard her right but wanted to be sure. “Can you say that again? I just want to make sure I wasn’t just imagining what I wanted to hear,” Riley asked.

Cassie laughed. A beautiful sound, one Riley was thankful to be present to hear.

“I said I’d like that too… But this time with some ground rules. First off, that hair has to go…”

Ground rules, moving a couple of mountains, shaving his head, Riley didn’t care. He would be happy to do anything just for this chance. Well, anything that didn’t involve sharing her. He still couldn’t believe it was happening. Riley was not completely convinced that he wasn’t just dreaming and that at any minute he would wake and be devastated that it had all been just fantasy. The table felt solid under his arm, though. The chair he sat on, yep, it was real and the touch of Cassie’s skin certainly was getting a ‘hello there’ reaction from his cock.

“I think we should set them together, these ground rules,” he replied, “and make sure we add one about being monogamous, because you’re the only woman I want in my life and I sure hope that you feel the same about me, Cass.”

“Well, sexy, I wouldn’t want you to rip anyone’s head off. That would be very messy… But that works both ways—I have no desire to scratch some female’s eyes out for touching you either. So, you wanna shake on it or kiss?”

The little minx hadn’t missed the opportunity to tease him back with her reply and Riley loved every word she had said.

Dragging Cassie’s body up and over the table was Riley’s ideal answer to that question, but he showed restraint, much to the disapproval of that rigid piece of his anatomy that was very keen on the idea. His cock was desperate to be buried inside Cassie’s pussy. Riley’s brain was trying to put the brakes on. Words like Slow it down, make this moment count, Walters and Why rush her? Take your time get to know each other again, you have forever to get this right bounced around his head. Cassie was looking at him, her eyes full of expectation. Cassie wanted Riley to take her—it was obvious to him by the way her gaze never left him, her smile and the way she pulled him in her direction still holding his hand. He was being an idiot, should take what she was offering with thanks and a huge helping of relief.

“Are you sure, Cass? Because once I make love to you again, I can’t let you go. If we take this next step, and for the life of me I don’t know why I’m giving you this chance to walk away…”

Riley didn’t have to worry for long. He watched as Cassie stood, the sound of her chair, as it fell over, ricocheting around the room not enough to distract him from her movements. She circled the table towards him. “Move back a little,” she said. No sooner had Riley accomplished her request than Cassie straddled him, throwing one leg over his lap and sitting down. Face to face, her bottom resting on his thighs.

“Kiss me, Riley. I’m one hundred percent sure.”

Oh, I love that scene. Thank you for sharing! Excluding your own, what is your favorite book?

Caitlin’s Hero, my sister Caitlin and Brodie’s book. You have to understand my childhood had been rocked with the death of my parents. When Brodie came into Cait’s life, not only did one of my footy heroes become my brother-in-law, giving me heaps of bragging rights at school, it also gave Cait back her life. She had put her dreams on hold to look after me. Life was pretty tough back then financially and everything I did caused a strain on the bank balance but Cait would not let me miss out on anything. She’s the best. Getting to go to the footy and sit with the other players was pretty cool for a kid of eleven.

Another good one! If price was no consequence, what gift would you buy Cassie?

Cassie is not really all that materialistic but I would like to buy her a giant, pink diamond engagement ring.  I’m hoping to find the right moment to propose to my girl, but I’m waiting for Donna to get writing 😉

Was there anything Donna left out that you’d like your fans to know?

I fixed my hair – you need to read the story to find out what that means!

It looks great. You are a handsome man!

Thank you for having me today Tori, it’s been a lot of fun and I can’t wait for the Jets boys to find out they missed out for once. Gareth and Dylan will be spitting chips, they are impossible to be around at the moment with their books nominated by the Australian Romance Readers Association for best erotic romance in 2013, not to mention Gareth’s sexiest hero nom.

  2. The excerpt above was one of my favorite scenes too! 🙂
Great interview, Riley. And it’s good that you pay attention to the little details such as knowing that Cassie’s not materialistic – but still sweet that you want to show her how much you love her by wanting to get her something so beautiful!

Congratulations to the both of you. I’m glad you and Cassie made it through. Now all you’ll have to look forward to are the small, petty arguments couples have that lead to awesome make-up sex. 😉

    • Hi Jen,
That’s the thing with being open and honest with your partner sometimes it does lead to small tiffs, but you’re right it does usually mean great make-up sex. Thanks for stopping by Jen, I hear you’re a big fan of JT, ( I won’t tell Donna) he is a great guy but us rangas are better 😉

      See ya
      Riley
